ArkHaven: I found these doing a Google search on "heirloom seeds"
While shopping at Ozark Natural Foods grocery store in April 2008 I visited a display outside the store of starter plants grown from heirloom seeds, all natural and organically grown. The Couple who had grown the certified naturally grown starter plants and displayed them in their nicely done tent gave me some literature I want to share with you. Read the "Certified Naturally Grown" statement at www.naturallygrown.org

Here are two magazines that may interest you. I subscribed to them during all the 18 years I was gardening (before I turned to writing). You have to see my http://www.arkhaven.org/about_author.htm page to get the whole story there. Here are some links I found using this search word phrase: "Self Sufficient Living"
The natural and organic method (used for thousands of years) is the only way you can garden if/when we can no longer buy chemicals, fertilizers, and gasoline.
Please share your favorite websites and book with us. I got an email recommending this book.

For an interesting insight into the type of pest control that was practiced during the time of Joseph, researchers refer to a quote by the 11th century Hebrew Bible commentator Rashi, who wrote: "And people put amongst the grain some of the earth of the place, and this prevents it from decaying." They believe Rashi was "referring to a method by which fine sand is added to the grain. The grains of sand scratch the hard covering that surrounds the body of the beetle, and make it dry up and die. This method is still used today by various African tribes, and we can assume that it was sufficiently effective to exterminate a pest that had just arrived in the region, like the lesser grain borer."

Dear ArkHaven,
We hope you can add this to your forum page with the attached photos. Thank you for your prompt response. I know God hears all our prayers. Here goes:
Our family began work. We thinned tree stands, cleared a wide area for the main house and had a gravel drive put in. Every day we would dream about people enjoying this beautiful work of art that God brought into our lives. It is such a serene, quiet spot. Tall ponderosa pine line the perimeter and the creek, poplars and crab apples, wild rose, flowering grasses in the fields between. And the wildlife, especially in the early morning, and at dusk pull the beauty all together with a symphony of twitters and song. We’ve seen wood ducks in the creek, in the fields deer and elk cross, wild turkeys, and waves of Canadian geese traveling to the lake nearby. To us, it is truly an Eden.
Our dream for this wondrous haven is to have it visited by those who seek communion with God. It is a quiet place to study, yet subtly surrounded by his creative genius. It could be a place where children could gather at the barn to study verse and learn how to care for animals. Where men could join together in a wood or steel project as they read His word about service and fellowship. A place where families or the solitary could come to rejuvenate and be still or rejoice in worship with musical instruments and voice. The soil here is good and visitors could help grow and gather the food we would bring to their meals.
New ideas come all the time. Unfortunately, we also had other building projects going on, as was our profession, and the housing market fall has left us giving away our other projects just to try and hold on. All this past few months God has provided us with a warm dry place to stay as we try to find financial aid to finish the house. We believe He has an investor out there that will be part of this plan to bring glory to His name. We also believe that these times we are in are His hand bringing about necessary change to bring His children closer. Let’s all rejoice in His will being accomplished.
