Consider
what an embarrassing and sad day it would be if the redeeming blood of
Jesus — very God — could only save and secure a small fraction of
mankind. Is it possible that Satan will take the Lion’s share?
Never! Never! Never!
Thanks
be to God, who ALWAYS leads us in His TRIUMPH in Christ, and manifests through
us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. (1
Corinthians 2:14)
Omnipotent God is perpetually victorious, and the Lion of Judah is
absolutely victorious.
The problem is, if we keep on doing what we’ve been
doing, we’re going to keep on getting what we’ve been getting — limited revival!
Therefore, the question arises: why do we keep on doing what does
not work? And why do we lose so many battles when our Lord is
undefeatable? Isn’t it sad that so many Christians just don’t get it?
When Jesus was on trial before Pilate, Pilate asked
Jesus the old philosophical question, “What is truth?” Pilate was so spiritually
inept that he was unaware of the fact that Jesus had just answered that
question.
WHAT IS TRUTH?
Jesus had just told Pilate, “for this I have
been born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to THE
TRUTH. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice” (John 18:37,
emphasis added).
So, what is truth? Here is the definition. Truth is a
Person, not a concept. Jesus said He was the truth (John 14:6).
Truth is a divine
attribute of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit! Psalms 31:5
says God IS Truth!
In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way, and the
truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me.” And
John 16:13, says the Holy Spirit is “the Spirit of truth.”
Even God’s Word, whether written or spoken, is “truth”
according to John 17:17b (Titus 1:2).
As for Satan, “Whenever he speaks a lie, he
speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies”
(John 8:44b). And no matter what, “let God be found true, though every man
be found a liar” (Romans 3:4).
And even though God is Truth, that does not
presuppose that we comprehend (or want to comprehend) all His
Truth revealed in the written Word or in His glorious creation.
17. That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you
the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.
18. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know
what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His
inheritance in the saints,
19. and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.
These are in according with the working of the strength of His might. (Ephesians
1:17-19)
“The knowledge of Him”
(vs. 17) can come only by revelation. Or maybe you prefer to say “spiritual
insight” rather than “revelation.” Either way, our understanding is thwarted
when we apathetically presuppose that we already know enough truth
and are not in need of any enlightenment.
Such presumption stymies all spiritual enlightenment
and progress in our lives. Although we may believe that all of God’s truth is in
the Bible, and that we believe in God’s truth, that does not mean that our
understanding of the Bible is “truth” or infallible. Let’s be honest and
admit that our understanding of God and His Holy Word is subject to error.
Was
that interesting? There is so much more in this chapter that you will
want to read. Is this a good time to order the book?
