God’s
gateway to supernatural power can become ours when we come
to our heavenly Father with contrite hearts and obedient
spirits in fasting and prayer.
This is
how Dr. Ronnie Floyd, my pastor, ended the preface to his
book: The Power of Prayer and Fasting.
I have waited until this chapter to
discuss the first and most important ingredient for end-time
preparation of the great harvest. God’s gateway to reaching
everything this book advocates is through “contrite hearts
and obedient spirits in fasting and prayer.”
Since you have read this far, you
probably are largely in agreement with its message. But here
is where the rubber meets the road. Bill Bright and Ronnie
Floyd are two prominent spiritual leaders in our land who
each have completed several forty-day fasts, and who believe
that God is sending a great harvest! Their respective books
are a major message of vast importance to God’s people
everywhere.
They both combine brilliant biblical
insights and profound experiences with prayer and fasting to
offer powerful, life-changing principles to every reader.
These two men are on the cutting edge of what God is doing
today.
Bill Bright, the director of Campus
Crusade for Christ, wrote a book that I consider mandatory
reading: The Coming Revival: America’s Call to Fast,
Pray, and “Seek God’s Face.”1
Dr. Bright said that this revival is
going to be a sovereign move of God — a confirmation
to the message of this book. Here is that quote.
My mind
was swirling with the realization that God Himself will move
His people to fast. I began to see that this revival will
actually be a sovereign move of God. That He is not through
with America. That He still has plans for our beloved
country. My heart nearly burst with thanksgiving and praise
to the Lord. As my eyes filled with tears, I knew I had to
do all that I could to relay this message to the Christian
world.
In their book Experiencing
God, Henry Blackaby and Claude King, perhaps in
response to Amos 3:7, said:
When God
gets ready to do something, He reveals to a person or His
people what He is going to do . . . When God spoke, they
knew it was God. They knew what God was saying. They knew
what they were to do in response.2
Dr. Bright felt strongly impressed to
write letters to several hundred of the most influential
Christians in the country, inviting them to Orlando,
Florida, as guests of Campus Crusade to fast and pray. It
was to be a time for seeking God’s direction on how His
servants can be channels of revival for our nation and for
the world.
Dr.
Bright is absolutely convinced that if believers truly love
God, trust His promises, and obey His commands, He will
fight our battles for us, and once again we will be a nation
under the rule of God.
Was
that interesting? There is so much more in this chapter that you will
want to read. Is this a good time to order the book?
