The Unity Jesus Prayed For
Will Come

John 17:20 true false unity in the Spirit movements 14:10 1:1 10:27 Hebrew Revelation 19:10 2 Corinthians 1:20

Dawning: The Next Great Move Of God, by Kenneth Uptegrove

There will always be false unity movements in Christian circles; but the Bible says there is also the true unity. In fact, Jesus prayed — and thereby prophesied — that we may be perfected in His unity. Here is His quote:

I do not ask in behalf of these (disciples) alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be ONE; even as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me. And the glory which Thou hast given to Me I have given to them; that they may be ONE, just as We are ONE: I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them, even as Thou didst love Me. (John 17:20-23 KJV) [Emphasis added]

Was this prayer just wishful thinking on Jesus’ part? Or was this prayer — and all of His prayers — a prophetic promise? Jesus said: The words that I say to you I do not speak of My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works (John 14:10 NASB). And Revelation 19:10 says, “The testimony of Jesus is prophecy.”

And Hebrews 1:1-2 says, “In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son” (NIV). This verse says that Jesus was a prophet.

Paul confirmed this (in 2 Cor. 1:20) when he said: “No matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God” (NIV).

It should be self-evident that if Jesus is who He said He is, very God, then all of His prayers are a prophetic promise!

Not one time did Jesus ever pray amiss. Every time Jesus prayed, He revealed the perfect will of His Father. To hear from Jesus was — and is — to hear from God. To say it another way, the words of Jesus were actually the “Word” of God — the second Person in the Trinity (John 5:19).

When God speaks, He always reveals what He is going to do — not what He wants us to do for Him (John 1:1-3).

When Jesus prayed, “that they may be in us,” He was saying that all Christians can be ONE in the Trinity even as the Trinity is ONE in us.

When we allow the Spirit of Christ IN US to flow with the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of God IN US, then we will begin to understand how our eternal human spirit can be in unity with the Omnipresent Spirit of God.

We must come to understand that the Spiritual unity Jesus prayed for can only be between God and man, never between man and man. We must get past the notion that unity in the Spirit means: all Christians being in unity with each other.

Unity movements that attempt to unite Christians “in the faith of man”, or “in the spirit of man (small ‘s’)”, are always false unity movements because they are of the flesh.

When more of Christendom understands this Spiritual truth, an ever-increasing number of Christians will come into Spiritual unity with Christ.

If our only thought, purpose, and intent is to know Jesus’ voice, have faith in Him, and do His will, we will be in perfect unity with Him. We will be in tune with Him as a piano is in tune to a tuning fork. Pianos tuned to the same tuning fork will also be tuned to one another. Yet, these pianos will play many different tunes. After all, unity — not uniformity — is God’s perfect will.

Allow me to simplify this statement.

When we know His voice (according to John 10:27) . . .

And know His will for our lives

And are totally obedient to His will

And glorify Him in our every thought and deed (as Jesus does unto His Father)

Then we are in perfect unity with Jesus.

The Song of Solomon says such a romance with the Groom is more than possible, it is the very heart of God, and God’s love is perfect!

Since Jesus prayed for unity, there can be no question as to whether unity will come. The remaining question is: when will this happen?

Why not right now? Will you confess RIGHT NOW that Jesus’ prayer was indeed a prophecy that will be fulfilled, and that you want to be in unity with Him?

Was that interesting? There is so much more in this chapter that you will want to read.  Is this a good time to order the book?

Noah's Ark Has Been Found

(A special report)

It takes the power of God to make God known. It takes the power of God to make mankind love God. It takes God in us to love God, and it takes God in us to know God. And it takes God to fulfill Bible prophecy. It just takes God “period.” We can do nothing — except be informed, prepared, and obedient.

I believe that the Holy Spirit is bringing a unity that will weather every storm — one not dependent on us (God’s creation) but dependent on God’s Spirit.

Those of us who actually enter the unity of the Spirit will not even be aware of it. Our attention will not be on the church and her great accomplishments, but on Jesus — the Lord of the church.

Lack of vision, lack of unity in the Spirit, and lack of faith has stymied the church’s conclusion for almost 2,000 years. But I believe these hindrances are being removed at an accelerated rate of reformation and restoration in these last-days. As our generation grows in unity and faith in Christ, we will see Him glorified by a great end-time harvest.

Brethren, if this message is true, it is also urgent.
